Lincoln’s dashing Santas ran their way into the record books yesterday at the 7th Annual Siemens Lincoln Santa Fun Run & Walk.
Resplendent in red, almost 1,700 runners took to the streets in front of Lincoln’s famous cathedral.
They were raising money for a number of charities including:
The fantastic news is that this is more runners than ever before! Organisers are now hopeful to break the event’s fundraising record set last year at £42,662.
The sun came out for the fun run this year, and festive crowds lined the streets in the Bailgate area. Their support and kind donations were fantastic for the charity representatives taking part.
Also taking part was the real Santa himself, who rode up and down the course on his special bicycle to meet the children watching the race, and mascots from all the event charities.
Impspire, our very own Running Imp mascot, was there too posing for photographs and encouraging the runners.
Race Director Chris Illsley, who also commentated on the event, said: “On behalf of the organisers at the Rotary Club of Lincoln Colonia, we would just like to thank everyone who took part and helped make this Santa run the best ever.
“We were so happy to see everyone getting into the Christmas spirit, people of all different age groups getting together and enjoying themselves.
“If everyone taking part was able to raise £20.12, or even better, then we will be on target to break our fundraising record and deliver a fantastic Christmas present to these charities which make such a huge difference to people’s lives.”
