Running Imp is thrilled to have supplied Bespoke Medals and Selfie Frames for the 2019 Gosport Half-Marathon! The half-marathon will take place on Sunday the 17th of November, and starts at 10 am. While this race is now full, there’s plenty of room to come down and support the participants and volunteers. Of course, you can also join the Gosport Road Runners and form another piece to their wonderful community.
Created and operated by the Gosport Road Runners, the 2019 Gosport Half Marathon is more than just an event; it’s also a thank you. This thank you goes out to all the other clubs which host events that the Gosport Road Runners partake in. The Road Runners would also like to thank for their support: Alexandra Sports, Solent Sports Injury Clinic, The Running Community Awards 2020, Huhtamaki, Haslar Radio, Bayside Cafe, St Vincent College and the Mayor of Gosport, Kathy Jones.
The Half-marathon itself consists of two laps starting at Browndown Road. From there, runners will follow around to Portsmouth Road, and by mile 2 will be running with a great view of the Solent and the Isle of Wight. Rounding the bend at the end of Salterns Road, participants will follow the promenade back to the far end of Portsmouth Road. Once there, they’ll spin round and complete another loop of course, before hitting mile 13 back at Browndown Road.
Runners will be adequately hydrated, with four eco-friendly water stations throughout the course. They’ll also be able to enjoy the musical delights of the ‘Big Noise Samba Band’, which is situated by the promenade water station.
If you’ve come along as a supporter of the race, you’ll also be able to enjoy the non-competitive Children’s Fun Run. The Fun Run will take place while the half-marathon is underway, and covers approximately 1.2K. Spaces are limited to 100, so make sure you register your child early!
There are prizes aplenty to be awarded at the event. First and second place runners across a range of ages will receive individual accolades, alongside Men’s and Women’s Teams. All participants, though, will receive the incredible two-sided medal designed by Running Imp and the Gosport Road Runners. The medal is intended to honour the proud military heritage of Gosport. It will also pay homage to the 75th Anniversary of D-Day.
