It’s not long to go before we’ll be celebrating the Queen’s 70th Jubilee! Get prepared with our guide on everything you need to know about the big day.
The Jubilee celebrates the Queen’s service to the nation. In 2022, it will have been 70 years since the Queen was first crowned as the monarch of the United Kingdom. Queen Elizabeth II will become the first British monarch to have reigned for this period of time. There will be many events across the country, including a bank holiday, which will give people the chance to celebrate in their own way, joining parties or partaking in the events held by the state.
Celebrations for the Jubilee will be taking place throughout the year. The main celebrations will be taking place on Thursday 2nd June through to Sunday 5th June. Friday 3rd June is a bank holiday.
There will be many events across the country in schools, businesses, pubs and independent gatherings. For the Platinum Jubilee, there will be events including a Platinum Pudding Competition, a nationwide competition dedicated to finding the next best pudding in honour of the Queen, a “Trooping the Colour” parade through London, and “The Queen’s Green Canopy”, a project which includes the planting of trees throughout the nation by the people of Britain. So far, 60,000 trees have been planted under this initiative.
